I've seen this woman circulating through the blogs, her style is the stuff of magic. I love how she has aged gracefully, wearing minimal makeup and wears her hair naturally. I wonder what her style evolution is? Whatever her style journey may be, her confidence shines in this photo;I can only hope for this in the future..Speaking of age, my birthday es manana! The big 25, the age of relevance. I know your thinking, "What does she mean by that?" Age of relevance...Does she mean everything I did up until this point doesn't mean shit? Na, quite the contrary my dear Watson, everything you have done up until this point has everything to do with your FUTURE (Paging Doc Brown! #BACKTOTHEFUTURE). My philosophical jaunt has me thinking, am I doing what I'm manically passionate about? Did I go to school for what I truly wanted (Bio degree) or to oblige the parental units? These self-posed queries not only have me talking to myself but causing me to push the edit button on my career choices and overall station in life...and with this hazy cloud of literary sentiment I promise more to come on my life changes and upcoming projects! I describe her style as rock and roll diluted by parisian allure, and is an addiction I haven't quite come to terms with. Makeup is not something I use all that often, but when I go out I like to turn it up, not MAC full borderline tranny face but maybe the latest look Nars has circulating on the runways. One look that I cannot seem to master is the sultry, always night appropriate "smokey eye". This editorial is the perfect visual aid for what I want to emulate, using different colors(purple,green,blue), 'smokey' can actually appear soft rather than the harsh black we're used to seeing. My eye shape is not a viable candidate (almond), so I have to do extra tricks to compensate for my lack in lid space. Hopefully, the abyss that is Youtube has tutorials for the beauty inept. I think I will start there!

I love both women displayed here, mainly Joan for her off- duty- street- ready ensembles and Alexa for her effortless propensity at mixing girly frills and boyish charm. I think I'm going to put the pic of Joan on etsy to see if someone is able to make this Rodarte creation that evaded me several seasons ago. Alexa is a style fortress and the perfect Valentino poster girl, she's been photographed wearing a few of their designs lately. I have a friend who just graduated from fashion design school, hopefully I can make this crimson beauty a reality.

New found treasure from my monthly sweep at the thrift store. Its crazy how you have something on your mind, like this suede fringe jacket and you unexpectedly find it at a thrift store; its like finding the wizard at the end of the yellow brick road, no one can describe it unless your a maniacal thrifter like myself, it reminds me of Isabel Marant this season. Python print is 'big' again (always in style for me) so I couldn't say no to this silk sensation, everything is better with leather and I can definitely see myself wearing this all season. The metallic baseball tee will be perfect to wear with skirts and trousers. I scored an amazing velvet dress that is not only '40s perfect but immersed in fall's romantic jewel tones. Zara.com is seriously out for all of my money as I made another order last week. I've been looking for the perfect black pump you know sexy, classic, but with a bite; our dear friends at Zara achieved shoe Utopia. Add to bag...Checkout! My Milan and Paris selections. Karl put on a show of enchantment at Chanel with a sorbet palette of suits,chiffon maxi's, and swimwear. Roberto Cavalli had the wardrobe of the perennial glam girl covered, while at YSL, Pilotto put together a collection that was minimal with the right amount of elegance and class (well the ysl aesthectic perfected) with beautiful jewel tones thrown in the mix....oh and did I mention the shoes??!!!
Ann D. never disappoints, saying 'no' to the typical floral prints and bright colors we associate with the spring season and showing a collection that was pure gothic elegance with a haunting yet refreshing mood... saving the best for last in the form of a edited video..Madame Marant displayed the most enviable collection...oversized parkas, bangin' bodycon dresses, ankle skimming sandals, and the perfect knit pieces for the resident cool girl.

So ready for fall to begin...knits, boots, layering and the fabulous perfection that is the autumnal season. This is what I wore today, the weather has been a bit moody; making it perfect for my transitional pieces to make a debut. I absolutely love this Dries top, the Fall 2008 collection was by far one of my favorites! Its the perfect color (every color) and the raw edge is like a fine wine it gets better and better the more it frays. I cant wait to wear it with leather pants and an over-sized coat in the colder months.

I rarely make mention of personal style unless I'm really inspired or interested in a person, and I've been watching this women for awhile, so the time has come for a post...well deserved for an individual with a well curated individual style. Two parts feminine, one part edgy describes this stylish maven. She is also a member of the chicest style council on planet earth...Chanel. Lagerfeld selects very carefully, in my book if he selects you as a brand ambassador your doing something right...I mean the guy is "the wizard", no doubt she's on the yellow brick road to style. Champion of the token "cool" girl, Alexander Wang impresses with his Spring 2012 collection. Trust me, I don't have a problem with Mr. Wang he
is changing the face of american sportswear, and creating a niche for that girl whose not a walking Blair Waldorf. But, this niche like aesthetic of his has me wondering how long can you continue to make glorified luxury track pants? Ok, ok I know he makes more than the track pants.

The first few looks paraded down the runway..very meshy and minimal, so Alexander... but when this floral ecstacy traipsed down the aisle I was entranced. I'm a sucker for a peplum and this was everything I could want in a spring jacket. Degrade, floral, with a track jacket twist.... very Balenciaga Spring 2008 ( basically one of my favorite collections, bar none). The look says yeah I'm girly but don't underestimate me, I've got a black belt and I can use it on you. The geo-aztec track suit and la femme nikita like grommet ensembles add dimension and contrasting colors to the rest of the collection giving the balancing act a state of equilibrium. Music is at times exactly how we feel, the words we can't seem to find, the very essence of who we are. We get lost in it, tones tickle the back of our throats, we sing in the shower, and dance all night to it at the club... Music is everywhere just like Ms. Coco Chanel said, "Fashion is everywhere..." Fashion and music have had an eternal love affair.... Andy Warhol's mark on the world of fashion and music (he was Debbie Harry's BFF! C'mon cant get any better than that!) during the late 80s throughout the 90s was unmatched, during a time where "club kids" were the fashion set and punk rock was the reigning champ of music; Warhol took this environmental stimuli to his advantage and put it on canvas, film, and beyond. He is an ICON, always adored...always remembered. This video is a proverbial nod to the Shaman of cool. "Our Mountain" stars in the campaign for the new perfume POP, due out in Costume National stores September 8. Enjoy.

My LCD on my car radio is broken so I've been feeling my way from station to station like a blind person, and I stumbled on this station that plays the best of the 80s, 90s, to the present...IMO that is absolute music Nirvana. I'm driving all judiciously and out of nowhere I hear No Doubt's "Running" and I can barely control myself, I roll the windows down and blast it so loudly that my car starts to convulse... the feeling of nostalgia sends waves of excitement through my body. I get home and now that I have the power of Gwen's voice surging through my veins I embark on a walk down memory lane. Youtube is my portal down reverie alley as I listen to every hit from the infamous band and even some Gwen Stefani in her solo formative years. Long story to a halt I click on Stefani's "Cool" and the video is what I like to say PHENOM...the imagery couldn't be better it looks as if its set in Paris or maybe Italy? Readers correct me if I'm wrong, but everything she is wearing aside from the leopard sweater and plaid skirt is worthy of supreme exaltation. Perfection defined. Her brunette bob, minimal make-up, and the chicest ensembles this side of Paris. Watch it.

The euro retail giant ZARA is now online! Sadly the consumers in the USofA cannot physically purchase items but at least the people of zara let you know what the store offers currently. The Zara Woman September lookbook is a testament to the minimalist and overall lover of simple,effortless style. I see Celine (spring'10) and Isabel Marant (fall'10) referencing,the red skinny ankle pant and camel coat (my fav look) are not only incredibly chic but a look of the unexpected...the two colors unite in a merriment that ignites the senses! Zara never dissapoints, looks like a trip to New York is in order!

I started having palpatative fits of excitement when I first saw this video, it is beyond inspiring! Her voice is intoxicating and her stage presence is undeniable! I've been trying to garner some inspiration because as of most recently nothing has really resonated with me as far as design is concerned so I figured if inspiration won't come to me, then screw it I'll chase it down, and tackle it! So that explains the current disheveled appearance of my living quarters .....my bedroom floor is littered with art history books, crumpled balls of paper, and half eaten pencils (nerves).... I've also been listening to Chopin,Bellini, and Verde',the archetypal gate keepers of the Romantic period.... New exciting collaboration with a Parisian designer is in the works.....picture this: if Chanel met Valentino had an affair and spawned a half bred Oscar de la Renta/Giorgio Armani Prive' mutant baby then that would be Sandrine's (designer) aesthetic! Can't wait to share the deets with you guys....

Hello Readers! Some very exciting new projects are happening here at Style Anthem! One exciting venture is a full fledged image consulting firm with me and my team of talented friends: makeup artist(Amanda Sigmon), photographer(Cleopatra Sharpe),hairstylists (Kristin Forte'/Queenet Nwobi) and Chief Stylist (moi) culminating to create a styling "super power" we handle everything from wardrobing the essential everday work wardrobe to special events to styling weddings etc. The previous pictures are our promotional photos we had tons of fun on this shoot, I drew inspiration from many places one being the electrifying Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2010 show for the makeup. The dramaticism of the look as far as the face was concerned was the perfect balance for the intricate detailing in the clothes, almost alien-like. As far as the "look" was concerned I drew ideas for current trends such as lace and counteracted it with the past, The long sheer nightgown was thrifted and could easily have been a style that would have been worn around the late 1800s, I then paired it with my cabachon encrested necklace (chezelle boutique;Charlotte,NC). The second look was inspired by the bygone era of the burlesque/speak-easy, the bodysuit (thrifted) is velvet which is still going strong this season; the shoes are Oh Deer!, and the thigh highs are Preston and York. Honestly, I could care less about that; it's probably just a marketing ploy to pull in high neilsen ratings for the show. It is undeniable that the girl has amazing style! She's always polished, and can mix prints and apply color in an ensemble like a seasoned artist. A definite fashion icon in my book.

It was my good friends bday this past weekend....after countless scrapped outfits, I managed to get out the door with this ensemble.... a vtg lace bustier-like contraption (reminds me of stella mccartney resort 2010), forever 21 bandage skirt, louis vuitton sling back heels (not shown), and vtg gold beaded clam shell bag. It was a night worthy of a post :)

Long-Nam. Read this name and save it in your free spatial memory because Nam will be a force in fashion quite soon..... I'm sure avid readers of the Style Bubble have already heard of this notable Paris-based Vietnamese designer. For decades the high end "go to" designer (well in my book) for exceptional tailored pieces has been no one other than the inimitable Yves Saint Laurent......but now it looks as if we have a contender. Long-Nam has worked for the highly regarded fashion house Lanvin not to mention world reknown stylists Victoria Bartett and Patti Wilson. Nam's designs are captivating but their also very cerebral...very calculating almost as exacting and finite as a blue print to a state of the art sky scraper. I am enamored with the fall collection for the simple fact that its sole premise is the anatomical composition of the human body(GENIUS!) ....more specifically the muscles, a foundational component of our physical makeup (haha or could it also be that im a bio major that i find myself biased). Nam's work brings out an inexplainable and unquantifiable amount of giddiness in me! The looks scream strength,power, and fluidity.... undoubtedly style defined. I predict that this creative genius is on the fast track to fashion stardom. I urge all of my fellow fashion enthusiasts to grab at least one piece from the fall collection,trust me its an investment I'm positively sure you won't regret....this is one for the fashion history books!

What a crazy week so far....my new job is kicking my butt....12 hour days! Wore this to go to McCormicks then I went to the half yearly sale @ Nordstrom.....I found a great Steve Madden bag by the name of "wild thing" that bares an uncanny resemblance to the A. Wang bag shoulder bag....Let me tell you my feet were crying by the end of the night these 5 and half inch platforms are no joke its almost like walking on stilts!

Normally I detest denim on denim ensembles BUT ever since I purchased this chambray denim shirt form the thrift store I keep getting this urge to pair it with denim. I haven't worn a pair of boot cut jeans in eons mainly because of the skinny jean surge that has been going strong for a few years now..... So I pulled out my trusty Roberto Cavalli's which by the way are THE most comfortable jeans on the planet they conform to every curve-- I swear to you that they feel just as good as your fav pajama pants!

Looks can be quite deceiving these are not pieces from any of the three designers listed in the title, they are actually from dare I say it? H&M!!!!! Topshop is clearly giving H&M a run for their money --this is probably what triggered the sudden production of cult trend designs for the Fall 09 Divided line. The pieces practically scream Balmain, A.Wang, and Rodarte references! I will definitely make it a point to visit the local H&M starting in September when the fall lines will be stocked.

Hello ladies and gents! I am officially out of school for the summer! So this means more outfit posts--YAY! Ok so my photog/hairstylist/sister and I were cruising around Pineville and found this great big open secluded spot to take outfit shots--along the way we made a friend....The horse you see in the first and second photos, yeah we named him Cheerio. I made kissy noises to get his attention to snap pics... and surprisingly it worked for like a second then I guess he found me boring and went back to eating the grass. When I put this outfit on I wanted to watch a marathon of "That 70s Show" and use phrases like "Far Out" and "Make love not war". Now looking at the photos I see some Gucci Fall 08 references in the jacket and shoes--so unintentional, but I like it. The dress is second hand from many years ago and you can barely see it but I used my wooden cross as a headband in pics 4 and 5 ( and as a bracelet/ring in the last pic) my hair basically devoured it! Oh yeah if you guys hadn't noticed yet...I got new hair! Say hello to the curly fro! My hair is going through an awkward stage right now so I'll be wearing it like this for a little while. Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!

Loving this beautiful weather we are having here in sunny North Carolina.... I just hope that it stays this way, Carolina weather is known for being loopy

entire outfit is thrifted with the exception of the sandals got them from some store in DC four summers ago when I worked at a camp by the name of "Camp Sonshine" It really wasnt my idea of fun sitting in the hot sun while swatting at flies and listening to adorable but still equally annoying three year olds whine about how hot it was.... while maintaining a fake smile and singing trivial little songs. Not my cup of tea that is why I NEVER returned.... OH well...

I am writing in response to your pre-fall 09 collection... This collection was undoubtedly one of your best! Dont get me wrong I am an avid follower of your work and I count all of your collections as separate entities, magnificent in their own right but this one was different it really spoke to me i feel that each look was custom made for ME from every meticulously placed dart in your tailored jackets to the sparkling delight that is the sequin top. You guys covered all the bases; the perfect amount of layering, the monochromatic grays, a splash of color, and those gloves oh the torture! How I yearn for the day that I am rid of all the scholastic prerequisites so that I will be able to afford even a stitch of your clothing! I applaud your swift success in the world that is fashion. You two have come a long way since 2002 and I only see your future being brighter so bright that your going to need shades, speaking of shades I love the ones in your pre-fall line-up! I posted this editorial for the simple fact that for me it depicts the present state of the fashion industry from an economical stand point.... The styling has a very avant garde approach. You can see that their objective was not to evoke conventional beauty, but rather to express a higher message one that involves the unfortunate woes that have claimed so many fashion patrons already, increasing the number of casualties daily--Ok well I am done shedding light on this subject; this ed really speaks for itself.....

An instinctive cue went off in my mind when I saw this photo that hedi slimane took at Coachella. I was like this reminds me of something but I couldnt quite figure it out (dont you hate that!) so I saved the picture to my computer and didnt really think much into my weird reverie. I am riding in my car on I-77 going 80 blasting my "Because of the Times" Kings of Leon CD and it dons on me when "On Call" starts playing that this song more specifically the video to this song is what reminded me of this picture. Im not going to spoil it for you, watch the beginning of this video to see what I mean (avid KOL followers may not need to view it ;)
Anyone that knows me knows that I love Kings of Leon and because of this maniacal infatuation I have for their music (their also not too bad on the peepers either) I am going to their concert next week! I dont know what to wear, so that is what I will be doing today, oh and I promise to take loads of pics for you guys!

I love this photo of Daria.I especially love the Chanel jacket. I am working on a project with a boucle jacket I found at a thrift store. I decided to experiment with chains instead of studs I want to still keep that "classic chanel" look but add a little modern twist to make it a bit edgier.
